Cove Mountain Preserve

We had some extra time this afternoon and decided to do a quick hike with a bit of a view.

Cove Mountain Preserve

Length: 1.7 Miles

Time: ~50 Minutes

Elevation Gain: 350 Feet

Difficulty: Moderate

Description: Located in Marysville, PA, this short out and back hike offers views of the Susquehanna River.

Directions: From Harrisburg - Take US 81 S to exit 65 toward US-11 N/US-15 N. Keep right, follow signs for US-11 N/US-15 N/Marysville and merge onto US-11 N/US-15 N. Turn left onto Spruce St. Turn right at the 1st cross street onto Myrtle Ave. Myrtle Ave turns left and becomes Sylvan St.

Where to Park: There is a parking lot at the trail head.

Details: This is an easy to follow hike with two options - one with yellow blazes (the one we took today) and one with red blazes. Each hike starts at the parking lot and follows a rocky trail until the trail options split. The yellow blazed trail undulates slightly until kicking up steeply for ~1/10 of a mile to the overlook. At the overlook you'll get a direct line vision to Lady Liberty. We did not take the red blazed trail this time but plan on doing so soon and we will update this post with the details.

Suggestions: Bring trekking poles - while they aren't necessary to bring, they are helpful through the rocky sections and steeper areas.

Lengthen Your Hike: As stated above, there is another trail with red blazes. You can add this loop onto the yellow blazed trail for a total of around 3.2 miles.
