Finally the first day of Spring!! Today we decided to check out Detweiler Park. We knew we'd be able to find our scavenger hunt items there, too!

Where to Park: Parking available at the Dauphin County Agriculture and Natural Resources Center building.
Details: Detweiler Park has a 7 mile trail system that presents several options and loops. We opted for this 3.5 mile loop as it gave us a nice variety of what this park has to offer, including stream crossings, grassy meadows, and mature stands of red pines. Most of this loop is easy walking, with smooth trails and little elevation gain. The upper portion, while mostly rock free, is more of a mountain trail, with a couple of small but steep ascents. It would be incredibly difficult to get lost in this park as all trails appear to have blazes and are well groomed. The park does offer maps, which are located at the info board near the parking lot, so we encourage you to grab a map, and, as the saying goes, go get lost in the woods.
The local business that we are highlighting for this trip is 3B Ice Cream, which sits right across from the park entrance. A lot of people think that this is just an ice cream shop but they also have great sandwiches and subs. Our favorite ice cream there is the Lemon Blueberry Crunch. This is a great place to stop for a "refuel" after your hike. Be sure to check it out!
Please give us feedback and let us know your thoughts! Also, be sure to share photos from your adventure on our Facebook Page.
We were happily surprised to find only two pieces of trash (not worthy of a photo). Thanks for checking us out! Keep Nature Neat!
Check out some of our other hikes!
